One thing you should know about GiGiā¦we never mind taking the Longest Way Home. šā£ļø
In factā¦just last week we had our TnT š§Ø (Treyton & Tyla) Dynamite Grands with us in McCall for an entire week of adventures. There is just something so special about having your Grands all to yourself for a few days. The laughter seems louderā¦the hugs seem tighterā¦and every little moment becomes another memory tucked away in GiGiās heart. š„¹š
All week long Grumpa was busy in his shop creating wonderful treasures on his 3D printer just for the Grands to play with and take home. š¤©ā£ļø
The favorites were definitely the little octopus š, dragons š, snakes š and of courseā¦dinosaurs! š¦
Treyton especially loved playing dinosaurs with GiGiā¦and every once in awhile we could even convince Grumpa to join in for a little dinosaur adventure too. šā£ļø
Every morning started much the same way.
We would do our morning routines and then sit down together for one of Grumpaās gourmet breakfasts. š³š„š„ā
Soon enough someone would always sayā¦
āHeyā¦itās time for our morning walkā¦or bike rideā¦to the Grumpa Tree!ā š²ā£ļø
And off weād go.
I donāt know if it was the walkā¦the bike rideā¦or simply being together that made those mornings so special.
Maybe it was all three. š
During the week we filled every day with adventures.
One day we rode the chairlift all the way to the top of the ski hill and looked out over Godās beautiful creation. š ā°ļøā£ļø
Another day we spent the entire day on the lake making memories that will hopefully last a lifetime. š¤š
Of course there was delicious food too!
We enjoyed meals at Shore Lodge and My Fatherās Place. They couldnāt be much more different from one another, but somehow they were both absolutely delicious.
Not because of the foodā¦
But because of the people sitting around the table.
After allā¦
When youāre surrounded by the people you love, almost any meal becomes a feast. ā¤ļø
Then, as always, it was time to head back home.
As we drove, we decided to take the Longest Way Homeā¦because why rush when youāre making memories? šā£ļø
One of our favorite stops is at the 45th Parallel sign.
There we stood togetherā¦
Exactly halfway between the North Pole and the Equator. šā£ļø
Treyton could barely fathom how this could possibly be true.
His mind worked so hard trying to picture the whole Earthā¦
āHow can we be halfway?ā š¤
Watching him try to understand this huge idea was almost as much fun as standing there ourselves. š ā£ļø
Those are some of GiGiās favorite momentsā¦
When a simple roadside stop becomes a wonderful conversation about Godās amazing world.
Then came one of those moments Iāll never forget.
As we climbed back into the car I asked,
āWhich way should we head home?ā
Without hesitation it was a resoundingā¦
āLetās take the Longest Way Home, GiGi!ā šā£ļø
Oh my heart. š„¹š
I donāt think they were really talking about the road.
I think they were talking about the adventure.
Because sometimes the very best part of life isnāt getting somewhere quicklyā¦
Itās slowing down enough to notice Godās beautiful worldā¦
Playing dinosaursā¦
Walking to the Grumpa Treeā¦
Riding chairliftsā¦
Boating on the lakeā¦
Sharing meals togetherā¦
Stopping at interesting placesā¦
Asking big questionsā¦
Laughing until your cheeks hurtā¦
And simply enjoying the people God has given you to love.
Thatās what GiGi hopes these trips will always teach my precious Grands.
Life isnāt meant to be rushed.
Sometimes the sweetest memories are found onā¦
The Longest Way Home. ššš²
